Oscars

The Academy Awards are my Super Bowl.  I don’t watch any sports, but I will watch the entire Oscar broadcast and everything that goes with it, including pre-show red carpet fashion, post-show gratitude and speeches, and the day-after fashion critique. Most importantly, I attempt to watch as many of the nominated films as possible, and especially those in the top 6 categories: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director.

During the year leading up to “Oscar film season” (October-December), I also attempt to see as many quality films as possible, in anticipation of having knocked something off my Oscar list. This means I consume a massive amount of cinema, and having a place to list them with a brief description of their content, including my overall impression was part of what started this blog. I will be posting my predictions once the nominations have been posted and I have a better idea of the contenders.  In 2012, I correctly predicted all categories, save one – and that’s including things like “Visual Effects” and “Documentary, Short Subject” (I’m pretty proud of that, can you tell?). In 2013, I correctly predicted twenty of the twenty-four categories. In 2014, I scored twenty-two out of twenty-four.

I’ll continue to keep links to my old predictions here and will update with my current predictions once the new nominations come out.
